  • Fire Tower Lookout Open for the Season Time to get out and experience the best view in Algoma Elliot Lake! The Fire Tower Lookout is now open for the summer season. Please note that the bathrooms will not be available at the lookout until next week.
  • Burley 1 and 2 Baseball Fields Closed for Maintenance The City is requesting that residents please refrain from using the Burley 1 and 2 Baseball Fields located behind Our Lady of Lourdes School at this time as they are undergoing Spring Maintenance on the dirt and grass. Estimated time for completion of this work is Friday, May 16th.

  • City Boat Launches Opening Today City staff are now working on opening the Elliot Lake Boat Launch, Dunlop Boat Launches and Quirke Boat Launch by the end of the day on May 6th. The Esten Lake and Depot lake boat launch will remain closed at this time as water levels remain too high.
  • Public Notice of Upcoming Simulated Emergency Exercise - May 13th Public Notice of Simulated Emergency Exercise On Tuesday, May 13th Rio Algom Limited (RAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of BHP, in conjunction with local stakeholders, will be conducting a simulated field emergency response exercise from 8:00am to 3:00 pm Eastern Time. The exercise is being coordinated to provide a training opportunity and evaluate interagency response capabilities.
  • Water at City Facilities Being Turned on Wednesday, May 7 City Staff will be turning on many of the city facilities water system on Wednesday May 7th, 2025 starting at 8:30 am until 2 pm. This will include Burley Park and it’s washrooms, Spine Beach, Spruce Beach and their washrooms, Westview Park and the Simpson/Westview trailer park.
  • Rogers Arena Update - May 2, 2025 City staff and contractors have continued making meaningful progress on the Rogers Arena project, and we’re pleased to share the following updates: Roof Work: Roofing work is nearly finished, with only some final flashing remaining to be installed. This work will be completed as other exterior work progresses for the project.
  • Landfill Amnesty Week is May 26 - 31, 2025 (excluding May 27) Tipping fees will be waived for residential waste at the Elliot Lake landfill site on the following dates and times: Monday, May 26 from Noon to 7PM Wednesday, May 28 from Noon to 7PM Thursday, May 29 from Noon to 7PM Friday, May 30 from Noon to 7PM and Saturday, May 31 from 9AM to 5PM Regular fees will apply to all vehicles entering the landfill on Tuesday, May 27. This is to avoid having the commercial garbage trucks wait in line as they perform their curbside duties.
  • Hazardous and Special Waste Collection Day - Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 Every year the City of Elliot Lake operates a Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste Collection Day. This allows residents to drop off all hazardous materials that should not be disposed of during our weekly curbside garbage collection program or the clean up week.
  • Pool Programming Notice for April 30 Due to limited staff availability, Lunch Lap Swim (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM) will be cancelled on Wednesday, April 30. Additionally, Deep Water Aquafit will not have an instructor, however participants are welcome to join for a self-led class.
