Emergency Management

Emergency Preparedness Week - May 3 to 9, 2026

Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative and an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you're prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency.

This year, Ontario's theme is Prepared Together. Emergencies can happen without warning. Before, during and after an emergency, neighbours, friends and community groups play a vital role.  Strong community connections reduce stress and help speed up recovery.

We are committed to making our community safe in Elliot Lake. Responding to an emergency requires the co-operation of everyone in Elliot Lake. It is important to know the roles we all play in an emergency.

Elliot Lake Council has adopted an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for the City. The ERP outlines the plans and arrangements needed to protect public safety. We developed this plan to ensure that all resources are deployed effectively in the event of an emergency.

The ERP provides key Elliot Lake officials, agencies and departments with important response information on topics such as:

  • Arrangements
  • Services
  • Equipment
  • Roles and responsibilities

The ERP also includes an evacuation plan in case all residents must leave the city immediately.
